I’m going to pose a question, but I want to do this, so YOU can ask yourself this IMPORTANT question. You don’t need to tell me nor anyone the answer.
Have a private meeting with yourself, search inside then ask “What is the TRUE reason I want to improve my health, is this reason enough to make me take action, is this reason enough to make me committed?”
You see, we all must have a BURNING DESIRE that makes us all want to take action on something. There is one (maybe a couple) thing(s) that will make us MOVE, as in get in motion about it.
If you don’t have a burning desire to improve your health, you might not take action. That’s ok, but only if it’s ok for you. YOU HAVE TO WANT IT. You have to feel you NEED it. No one can want it for you.
For example, I had their BEST interest in mind every time I trained a client, or counsel you in nutrition and body composition or take on a new client, however I can’t make you want it. I probably can’t motivate you with all the great stories, or reasons that have worked for me, or any one else. But I know it’s going to take something beyond the tangible that no one has addressed with you before.
I HAD A BURNING DESIRE INSIDE ME WHEN I GOT ON THIS ROAD. My story is unique which is why I do what I do today, but it’s an example of that thing that was burning in me. I HAD to improve and totally change my physique, I HAD TO! For me I had no choice, why? Because I didn’t want a choice, I wanted a contract with myself that could NOT EVER be broken, and I made it, with MYSELF. No one will ever take it away from me, I burned the bridge that would allow me back across to the other sid, and down into the valley to where I once was.
If you TRULY want to change how you feel, how you look, to improve your body composition, improve your health. Ask yourself, “WHY”? Is that answer a true BURNING DESIRE that will make you take action?
Either way, search yourself for answers to questions like this.
- Why do I truly want to improve my health?
- What’s going to make me…
- Get out of bed when I’m tired?
- Train/exercise when I have a headache?
- Go to gym even when it’s snowing, raining, etc.?
- Train when I’m angry at my work, my job, a spouse, a girlfriend a boyfriend, a family member?
- Go train when I’m depressed?…
- Go When my vehicle doesn’t work…
- Go When I don’t have a vehicle…
- Go When I’m sore from a previous training.
In other words, and so MANY at that; what’s going to make me commit and never look back because my health Mentally, physically and spiritually are worth every thing I can give it no matter what I will face?
When the true answer to your WHY manifests itself to you, you will know, because you will feel it, your mind is going to flip the switch in that moment.
Because then and there you will be doing it for all the RIGHT reasons that pertain to you.
Not for pool season, not for bikini or short season, not for a wedding, not to get the girl or get the guy, not to get the job, not to fit in to one particular pair of pants; one dress, one outfit, not for ANY superficial reason. It will be the real “WHY”.
Whether you take action or not, at the end of the day you have to be happy with yourself and the choices you made. Whatever you end up with or without, it’s because you wanted it, based on action or even lack there of. Sometimes, you must be willing to remove one thing to gain another. WHAT DO YOU WANT? WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO DO TO GET IT? You must be willing to do it without compromising your integrity and morality yet still making a sacrifice.
Here’s the real example I use when I’ve been asked how did I get to where I am. But even this was not my-why. Yet I uncovered this root in the tree of my personal why.
My answer is this: I created holes in my life, I recognized something was no longer working, so I removed it, which created a hole. With every hole I created, I filled it with something better. When I started the journey towards physical improvements I had removed something in my life which no longer worked for me, and that was being a social drinker.
My drink of choice was always vodka. I would go hang out and socialize, and have a few drinks. Yet during the same time, I had started training and conditioning my body.
Until one day I recognized I had reached a level of strength that I had never thought I would EVER see. Yet when I would go back to the gym and train after a night out of social drinking, my repetitions were diminished by a two or three during that session.
My body was fatigued, and from something that caused me to recognize the source of the weakness. It messed with my head in a major way. I had to ask myself a new question, “why would I allow something to interrupt the progress I’ve made and that has caused me to feel so good”? I hated it. I was angry at myself. It was that moment a mental hole had developed, then I spoke it and that was, “one day I’m just going to stop drinking”.
I continued drinking, from that point and without me realizing what was about to happen. I went back to the gym one day, and had the same weakened result; and it was that moment I said “I’m done drinking I don’t want it anymore, I don’t need it in my life” I walked away cold turkey and never looked back. I haven’t never missed it. I also have never had a single drink since. It was personally choice, but I had CREATED A HOLE in my life and that’s when I filled it with something better, and I went ALL in toward my health, physique, education, and to improve and help others. I did this in many situations in my life, this was just the example of the one that’s relevant to OUR HEALTH.
There are many nuggets to gather from this so read this as many times as necessary for this to resonate.
It should not be taken lightly. Without it, you will be lacking one of the most powerful ingredients of your spiritual and mental fuel source to propel you into action.
I know If I don’t offer this I’m missing a significant piece of the health jigsaw puzzle. From here we will must level up very fast.
THEREFOR MY ADVISE IS: “KNOW YOUR WHY”.
